Overnight Stay Experience with the Slave Dwelling Project

After the close of the conference on Saturday, participants who have registered for this event will share a meal. Later they will occupy spaces where enslaved people worked, lived, and slept. Joe McGill, founder of the Slave Dwelling Project, will lead participants in a candid conversation about the historic spaces that document slavery, including those within the big house.

Registered guests should bring a sleeping bag or blanket, and they should be prepared to feel the wood floor beneath them and to hear the unfamiliar sounds and light (or lack thereof) in a historic building. Toilets, sinks, and running water available in an adjacent building.

Breakfast will be served Sunday, October 20 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Stenton.

Registration for this overnight experience is required. A charge of $25 will cover the cost of dinner and breakfast.
